About Barnstormer Distillery in Rockford, IL
Our History
Barnstormer Distillery located on Grant View Heights is Rockford's first and only legal distillery since prohibition. Barnstormer Distillery is the only facility that Distills, Produces, and Bottles In the beautiful and historic Rockford Illinois. Formerly known as GrantView Heights Distillery, it was rebranded in 2020 to pay homage to Rockford's and the Owner's Aviation history. The owners, Addie and Tim Ford, purchased the 22 Acres known as Grant View Heights in 2017 and immediately began to transform the land into a specialty crop farm. The intent was to use the Agricultural products from the property to produce unique and locally flavored spirits. Onsite spirit production at the Grant View Heights facility began in December of 2018. Work begins in 2020 to create a commercial entrance to the property to allow for customer visits.

The Barnstormer Distillery Philosophy
Our goal is not to be the biggest distillery in Illinois, it is to produce and offer for sale only great tasting and unique spirits. We believe taste should be the focus of any Craft Spirit. We produce our spirits using taste, smell and touch like craft should be, not a computer controlled & automated process. We believe that hands on approach and personal connection is the key to making a great spirit. We invite you to taste for yourself to see if we have met our goal.
